Training for Lean Product Managers and System Engineers

Duration

4 Meetings

About the Activity

About

Objective: The training aims to equip product managers and system engineers with practical tools tailored for requirement elicitation, understanding constraints, and finding creative and applicable solutions to entrepreneurial challenges in a system of systems environment.

Rationale: This is a hands-on and practical training for entrepreneurs, managers, and decision-makers who fulfill the roles of 'System Engineer' or 'Product Manager'. These individuals act as a bridge, with the responsibility to understand and distill the requirements and constraints of the customer and stakeholders they represent, translating these needs into a standardized language that development teams can comprehend.

Graduates of the Training Will:

  • Understand the importance of system engineering in the development of complex systems.

  • Be able to articulate the needs of a new system.

  • Be capable of sketching a simple BPMN diagram and reading a complex BPMN diagram.

  • Use a CONOPS image to characterize a complex system.

  • Define customer requirements for a medium-scale project.

  • Prioritize conflicting requirements using the AHP method.

  • Address contradictions using the TRIZ approach for systematic inventive thinking.

  • Prioritize concepts holistically using the House of Quality and QFD methods.

  • Be capable of sketching a simple block diagram and reading a complex block diagram, which includes basic aspects of software menus, human engineering, mechanics, software logic, communication networks, and more.

  • Characterize human-system interfaces.

  • Define testing processes and integration experiments for systems.

  • Consider the full project life-cycle aspects, including production, testing, operation, changes/updates.

Benefits

Equipping participants with a holistic set of skills, this training covers the entire spectrum of product management and system engineering. From requirement elicitation to the final stages of the product life-cycle, attendees will be prepared to address complex challenges with innovative solutions. The program emphasizes effective communication, bridging the gap between stakeholders and development teams, and translating intricate requirements into a universally understood language. As the tech landscape rapidly evolves, this training ensures participants stay ahead by mastering the latest methodologies in system engineering. By fostering a collaborative environment, the training streamlines processes, reduces redundancies, and ensures smooth project execution. Attendees will also gain a comprehensive perspective on projects, integrating all aspects from human-system interfaces to software logic. This not only opens doors to advanced career opportunities but also instills a mindset of continuous learning, innovation, and a customer-centric approach, all of which are pivotal for success in today's dynamic tech world.
